WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: The Catholic Church in Rushden has 2 representatives on the local committee of World Day of Prayer organisation: Valerie Brierley and Juliana Rensburg. Juliana will shortly be moving away from our Diocese to be closer to her daughter which means that Valerie will be the sole representative for our church. It is recommended that all the various denominations are represented on the committee and it will be a pity if our church is not represented.
If there are any ladies who would like to be a member of the committee, I assure you that you will be made to feel very welcome. It is not an onerous job at all, we meet at the most three times a year, in January to organise the present year World Day of Prayer church service, then first week in March, the actual church service with a meeting a week later to discuss how the service went. And that is all. If someone is interested, please feel free to contact Valerie on 01933 319166.

Seeing your Life through the Lens of the Gospel
- Jesus uses the image of salt as something that makes food tasty. Without salt food can be tasteless. Who are the people who give zest to your life and make it enjoyable? For whom have you done this? When have you been particularly aware of your potential in this regard?
- The second image is that of light. Who have been the people who have been a light for you, particularly in moments of darkness? For whom have you been a light? Recall these experiences and give thanks.
- The image of salt and light can also be applied to communities to which we belong, a family, a parish, or other group. Thinking of the groups of which you are a member, how can their potential be enhanced to enrich the lives of members and offer them guiding light? How can you make a contribution to this?
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – CREATION: To some extent we have become our own zookeepers caging ourselves indoors. We’ve replaced birdsong, pine scents and floral patterns for screens and social media platforms. Nature is proven to de-stress us. Screen time is proven to stress us. We need to unlock ourselves from our devices and go barefoot on meadow grass or forest floor. We need to feel the feelings that come with rest and deep relaxation. We need to teach our bodies that there is another way of being in the world. Open your front door and go outside.
ADORATION: Tuesday from 10:15am to 6:30pm.
