FIRST COMMUNION 2020: Will be celebrated this Sunday December 13th at 12 noon in church with Mass.

A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR THE CHURCH: It would really help the Parish financial shortfall due to Covid-19, if you

could consider making a Christmas Gift to the Church in addition to the amount you would normally give in the collection. We have experienced a loss of 50% in our income during the pandemic and need to try and redress this as much as possible.  Thanks to all who have already supported this initiative.

OFFERTORY COLLECTION:  You may be wondering how you can support the Church during this difficult time. If you wish to contribute financially, please consider making either a one-off donation or setting up a regular payment. This can be done using the following details:

Bank name:  NatWest

Account name:  R.C.D.N. St Peter’s Rushden

Sort Code: 60-06-11

Account Number:  91052432

STEWARDS NEEDED: Fr Joe is planning on having the normal amount of Christmas Masses this year but to do this, stewards are needed for each. If you are willing to help with this important ministry so that our Christmas Masses can go ahead as normally as is possible then please contact me, Deacon Peter at peter.remmington3@gmail.com

CHURCH CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: The Church needs to be cleaned and decorated ready for the Christmas celebrations. We would be very grateful if you could spare a couple of hours and help on Wednesday December 23rd at 10am. Please note that all the required Covid-19 precautions will be in place.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:

From 10am to 6pm Tuesday and Friday, with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL (Mark 13:33-37)

  1. ‘There is one among you whom you do not know’. We can know about Jesus but do we know him. What helps you to know Jesus in a way that enables you to follow in his footsteps, trusting God as he did, and seeing other people as he did?

  1. John the Baptist came to bear witness to Jesus. Who have been the people who have borne witness to you of the good news of the gospel that God loves you – a friend, a parent, a teacher, etc? To whom have you borne that witness?

  1. John appears in the story as one who had the courage to be himself in the face of loud and aggressive people. He was also a person who knew his own value, did not make exaggerated claims and was content with his mission.  Can you recall times when you have been able to be yourself, even in the face of criticism from others?

  1. John was ‘the voice of one crying out in the wilderness’ – announcing confidently to those in the wilderness that they must not despair because God’s grace may come to them at any moment. Have you had the experience of being in the wilderness, feeling lost? From whom did you hear a voice that gave you hope? Have you been able to give hope to other people when they were in the wilderness? Do these questions have any special relevance to you in the midst of the current situation in our country?

ATTENDING MASS: When attending Mass, you will be asked to leave your name and contact details if you have not previously done so.
